Independent Art Scene

Demonstration against funding cuts in the independent art scene NRW

Which society are you saving for? NRW's independent art scene has its value!

On January 16, we would like to take a stand against the funding cuts to the independent cultural scene in NRW!
We invite you all to gather with us in front of the culture committee meeting in the state parliament in Düsseldorf and draw attention to us with artistic contributions.

More and more funding rejections for established projects such as iDAS NRW, the internationale tanzmesse nrw and also Cheers for Fears are currently becoming public. We are very concerned about these decisions, as they are communicated at a very late stage in the year and the reasons for these cuts are incomprehensible.

We call on the Ministry of Culture and Science NRW to re-evaluate these decisions, as they put important structures on the brink of collapse.

On January 16, we want to make our protest visible together with you and also create moments for us as a scene to stand together.
You are cordially invited to dress up in your most colorful clothes and costumes and make a statement together with us through our art! You are also welcome to bring posters and banners with your personal statements and demands to politicians! But even without a costume or banner, your presence is a great help!

We would also like to include artistic contributions to the demonstration. If you would like to contribute something artistic or make a speech, please get in touch with us at contact@cheersforfears.de!

After the demonstration, we would appreciate it if you could join us at the cultural committee meeting at 13:30.

We look forward to see you!

Your Cheers for Fears Team
